Hello,
I have often thought about starting a Blog but it wasn’t until I read my friend Gretta’s blog that I realized I could do that too. I have never been sure of the process of blogging and how to get started but Gretta’s blog directed me to “create blog” so I thought, why not.
Then I worried, do I have something to say? Is it presumptuous to think that anyone would be interested in what I have to say? Well, if nothing else it would be cathartic for me and may be of interest to someone or maybe even a few – who knows but here goes.
The title for the blog is The Eternal Optimist. I have always thought of myself as an optimist. You may have heard the story of the Eternal Optimist. An optimist is given a room full of manure for her birthday. She jumps in and starts shoveling furiously. Her friend asks her, “what are you doing.” The optimist says, “with all this manure in here there has to be a pony somewhere.” That just about sums me up. I will always be looking for that pony.
You may think that with that philosophy my life is perfect. Far from it. However, I have been fortunate to have people in my life who love me and allow me to love them. I Have been given wonderful opportunities and gifts of love, support, kindness, education and acceptance, to name a few.
My husband, John, is the most important thing in my life. He is an Englishman is the fullest sense. Kind, polite, dry witted, always wears a suit and tie, pajamas to bed with a hankie in his breast pocket. He is brilliant professor of Communication at ISU and a genius. Yes, that is right, I have proof. At a conference in Chicago, in 2006, a panel chair introduced him to a room full of people as such. I was never so proud. He will deny this because he is humble and a little shy, but there it was for all the world to hear (or at least the presentation room attendees, which was enough to me). He is the best husband and one of the greatest gifts I have ever received. I love him very much.
My work is also very important to me. I love being a Realtor with JP Finley & Co., Re/Max Choice, Bloomington. I help to make people’s dreams come true. If you have every purchased a home you know that incredible feeling of falling in love with a house – just bricks and mortar -but when you finally choose a house then it becomes a home. There is no greater satisfaction that helping people to find a wonderful home and seeing the happiness on their faces at the closing table when you hand over the keys.
Well, this is my first submission to my blog. I am off now to show a house to a young couple. They are not ready to buy yet, so this is just a courtesy to them. Hopefully it will inspire them to get on the home buying track and get things in order to may their dream come true. What a nice way to spend an hour this afternoon.
Not sure how often I will be blogging – guess when I have something to say.
Talk to you soon.
Hugs,
Roxanne
